Legend of Badges
Note: The various badges displayed in people profiles are largely honesty-based self-proclamations by the individuals themselves. There are reporting functions users can use if they know of blatant misrepresentation (for both people and projects). Legitimacy, competency and reputation for all people and projects can be evidenced and/or developed through their providing regular updates on permaculture work they’re involved in, before/after photographs, etc. A spirit of objective nurturing of both people and projects through knowledge/encouragement/inspiration/resource sharing is the aim of the Worldwide Permaculture Network.

PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |

Chico Permaculture Guild
Project Type
Community, EducationalProject Summary
The Chico Permaculture Guild seeks to engage people in cultivating a more permanent culture in Chico and the Northern Sacramento Valley. Our mission is to educate, demonstrate and practice permaculture. We aim to inspire and help individuals, families and farms achieve abundance and a lifestyle in harmony with natural systems.
Project Description
The Chico Permaculture Guild was founded in 2009 in Chico, CA. This small but dedicated organization continues today and has been successful introducing Chico and surrounds to permaculture design principles and methods. The CPG has provided the local community with informative meetings and events such as seed exchanges, inspiring speakers and Garden Wheel events -where members host a permaculture work party (like a PermaBlitz).
CPG Mission and Functions:
- Build personal relationships -foster a culturally rich community.
- Become more connected with fellow permaculturists -network both online and with eachother
- Garden Wheel events -helping each other on projects at home, rotating from site to site to come together and put our energy into our own home zones, planting seeds, growing food and habitat as a collective.
- Promote local permaculture-based projects and networking between local groups -network within already established groups that are carrying out projects of sustainability or good nature within the community.
- Permaculture workshops and classes -as a guild we seek to entice the community to look out into our greater watershed and design and implement as many Permaculture projects as possible which restore, revitalize and regenerate natural systems that have been impacted by humans.
Our motivation for the future is to hold permaculture training courses and eventually PDC courses as demand for practical knowledge and hands on skills in permaculture is ever increasing.
