About Bill Wilson

Hello...

I have lived in the small, sustainably oriented community, of Stelle, IL, for over 33 years. My wife and partner, Becky, and I started Midwest Permaculture over 5 years ago to bring a stronger permaculture presence to the Midwest.

By living in a small community we have had a front row seat in just about every aspect of creating community. We've learned much about what works and what does not. The insights that we have gained far outweigh our time and energy invested. Permaculture is, after all, about creating permanent-cultures and to have permanence we must find ways to work and care for nature and for each other.

As our knowledge of permaculture grows, so does our desire to implement it around our home and in our community. To date we have incorporated rain-gardens, swales, a 425 gal. raised rain-water tank, berms, raised beds, hugelkultur beds, modest guilds, an aquaponics system, and more. Some picture summaries are available on our website.

We love this work of inspiring and teaching others about permaculture. We've hosted over 28 PDC courses now. Wayne Weiseman of "The Permaculture Project" has been our PDC certifying instructor at most of these. After completing advanced training in permaculture design and permaculture teaching last year I too began offering PDC Certification at our trainings.

Becky, Wayne and I have had students join us from all over the U.S and from many different countries. How incredibly satisfying it is to meet and get to know so many great people in our trainings. Our goal is to bring an authentic experience and expression of permaculture to mainstream America. Our desire is to deal with two of the greatest global problems we face (over consumption and lack of awareness) right at the heart of the problem.

Greetings From Midwestern U.S. -- Bill Wilson
