About Mustafa Fatih Bakir
Has professional background in architecture and landscape architecture.
Read a brief description of permaculture on a notice board in 1994 while he was still a student of architecture and was very interested. Did internet research and purchased his first book on permaculture in 1998: Permaculture: A Designers' Manual. Took an intro to permaculture course from Jan Martin Bang in 2000, in Hasandede, Turkey. Started putting into practice some of the things he learned, between the years 1999 and 2005 at the urban co-housing initiative he and a group of friends started and lived in, in Istanbul. It was in 2007 that he attended a PPC (Permaculture Practical Certificate) course given by Bill & Lisa Mollison and Geoff & Nadia Lawton at the Mollisons' farm in Tasmania. Took his PDC, once again from Bill and Geoff, in January 2008, at Melbourne Uni. Returned to Australia once again in 2009 for an internship with Geoff at the PRI. Completed PDCTTC (PDC Teacher Training Course) & PAWTC (Permaculture Aid Worker Training Course) and got the chance to work on several designs and consultancies with Geoff as part of the internship at the institute.
Has since designed & consulted for several projects nationally and internationally and works now as a full time permaculture designer, consultant & teacher and is the founding director of PRI Turkey. Leads the team translating "Permaculture: A Designers' Manual" into Turkish language (will hopefully be published early-summer 2012)
