About Alan Enzo

Alan Enzo, Ph.D., M.B.A.

Dr. Enzo (also known as "Enzo") is an award-winning researcher and consultant in Sustainable Business Development, Ecological Economics, and Permaculture Design. He works on projects in Nashville, TN, Asheville, NC, and internationally. Enzo is also a registered Teacher and Consultant with the Permaculture Research Institutes in Australia and USA. He holds a Ph.D. in Management (specialization in Ecological Economics), and an M.B.A. in Sustainable Business from Tennessee State University.

Enzo began his career as an Environmental Remediation Project Manager, responding to oil spills, train wrecks, chemical disasters, factory explosions, and natural disasters. He also worked in government as an Emergency Management Officer, where he was intimately involved in the responses to Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina, among other state/federal emergencies.

Enzo has extensive experience in management and sustainability consulting for corporations, non-profits, universities, state and local governments, ecovillages, organic farms, and individual homesteads. Enzo received his Permaculture Design Certificate from the Mollison Permaculture Research Institute (This was the original Permaculture Research Institute in Australia founded by Bill Mollison, which pre-dates the current PRI Australia run by Geoff Lawton). He has received advanced training in organic food production, natural building, agroforestry, food forest design, and ecovillage design. Enzo is passionate about alternative local economic systems, natural building, appropriate technology, forest farming, and helping students and clients start their own businesses.

Jessica Enzo:

Originally from Denver, Colorado, Jessica has also lived in South Florida, the deserts of Arizona and the rolling hills of Tennessee. She has a B. A. in History from Middle Tennessee State University, and is a certified teacher. Jessica taught 6th grade Ancient History from 2006 to 2010. Jessica’s dynamic teaching style has earned her much praise from students and her co-workers.

Jessica's passions are demonstrating and sharing her love of Permaculture and its amazing principles with as many people as possible. Jessica received her PDC from Zev Friedman and Dylan Ryals-Hamilton in Asheville, NC.

Enzo and Jessica are now working with other Permaculture and sustainability professionals in the region to establish a Permaculture Demonstration and Education Center in Nashville.

The Enzo's, and several other leading Permaculture Instructors from the Nashville and Asheville Permaculture Guilds teach the official 72-hour PDC course online at PermacultureEducation.com
