PRI TeacherWith the exception of the ‘Member’ who has never taken a PDC, all of the above can apply to become a PRI PDC Teacher. PRI PDC Teachers are those who the PRI recognise, through a vetting board, as determined and competent to teach the full 72-hour course as developed by Permaculture founder Bill Mollison – covering all the topics of The Designers’ Manual as well as possible (i.e. not cherry picking only aspects the teacher feels most interested or competent in). Such teachers also commit to focussing on the design science, and not including subjective spiritual/metaphysical elements. The reason these items are not included in the PDC curriculum is because they are “belief” based. Permaculture Design education concerns itself with teaching good design based on strategies and techniques which are scientifically provable. PRI PDC Teachers may be given teaching and/or consultancy offerings as they become available as the network grows. |

Eats, Shoots & Roots is a social enterprise that believes in the power of food as a binding force between people. Our mission is to grow communities through growing food; we do this through educational programmes and through establishing food gardens where people actually live.
Project Description
Using ecological design and permaculture principles, the crux of our work is based on the 3 tenets of Earth-Caring, People-Caring, and Surplus-Sharing. We work with communities, schools, businesses and institutions to develop sustainable agriculture, as well as resource and waste management systems, whilst encouraging social and ecological diversity and resilience.
We collaborate with a wide range of people to develop solutions that address issues of sustainability, food security and nutrition. We also deliver sustainability education as per request and offer design, implementation and support of community gardens.
Workshop: Urban Gardening for Kids
Your child will create a mini take home garden, learn how to build healthy soil and soil life through recycling; as well as growing a container garden of creeping herbs and leafy vegetables… from scratch! An opportunity to observe and connect with nature
